Roots & Wings Learning C.I.C. is a social enterprise, with any profits being reinvested into developing services and supports for children, young people and their adults. As a Community Interest Company, we have a board of directors who are responsible for overseeing all decision-making and strategic direction.

Our Founder/Director Sarah is an experienced additional needs and nurture teacher, with a 15 year career working across both mainstream and specialist settings, including a residential and secure care setting and in a local-authority wide support role.

Sarah is trained in nurture and holds a Masters in Professional Practice in Education, specialising in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Attachment and Trauma-informed Practice.

Sarah is author of the book ‘Creating a Trauma-informed Classroom’ released in April 2024 by Critical Publishing. The book has been signposted in Education Scotland’s ‘Keeping Trauma in Mind’ course for 2024/25 and is available on reading lists at some Scottish universities. ‘Creating a Trauma-informed Classroom’ is also signposted to delegates on courses run by Trauma Informed Schools UK (TISUK).
